Bildererzählung Museum
Winning brand identity for a live brief by Pentagram in collaboration with Ravensbourne University.

Bildererzählung Museum is a speculative museum located in Berlin, exploring the power of photo and video journalism, past and present. The challenge was to create a brand identity driven by design behaviours, starting with a logo made from four circles.

Cropped typography echoes the cropping motion in the logo animation, emphasising the “framing” behaviour.

The fragmented poster design, with the museum’s logo serving as a frame for historical imagery, symbolises different parts of a story uniting to form a complete narrative.

Each ticket carries half of the logo, inviting visitors to complete the image by joining their tickets together. Again, this interactive detail embodies individual perspectives combining to reveal a whole picture.

Cutouts on the pamphlet cover reveal underlying images, providing flexibility for different exhibitions.

Research and early iterations.
